Best QR code generators with analytics in 2026: scan tracking, priced and compared

Published · Page updated · By QRBench Editorial

The verdict

Oh My Code is our pick for most people who want scan analytics without an annual contract: advanced analytics from $4.99 a month, and the one dashboard among these picks we watched count scans. Choose Uniqode for the deepest breakdowns and the longest history, Hovercode for free total and unique scans, Flowcode for UTM and CRM attribution, Scanova for Google Analytics and webhooks on a $9 plan, or QR Code Generator by Bitly for 10,000 scans on an entry plan.

Analytics only exist on dynamic codes, and the paywall is usually history: how many days of scans you can still see. Check that number, the export format and the definition of a unique scan before you buy.

The picks, by need

Scores rate the whole product on our common grid, where analytics carry an eighth of the total; the Analytics by tool table gives each tool's analytics score.

Best for most people

Tested by us · two controlled browser visits counted; exports and history not tested

Advanced analytics on the cheapest plan, $4.99 a month or $25 a year for 2 dynamic codes and 500 scans a month, monthly billing and one-time plans. The only dashboard among these picks we watched count: two visits showed as 2 scans and 1 unique visitor with device and country, September 21, 2026. Meta, GA4 and Google Ads pixels documented on The Boss behind a consent page, not tested.

Deepest analytics, longest history

From the vendor's pages · help center; no dashboard tested

Total and unique scans, hour and day analysis, top countries, states and cities, OS and browser shares, GPS coordinates on Plus and above, per its help center read September 22, 2026. History is the paywall: 60 days on Essential at $9 a month billed yearly, 90 on Core, 180 on Plus, lifetime on Business+. CSV export starts on Core.

Best free scan analytics

From the vendor's pages · pricing FAQ; no dashboard tested

Three dynamic codes free for life with total and unique scans and 3 months of history, no ads, no scan cap. Paid plans add time, device, browser and estimated city per scan: 12 months of history on Pro at 11 EUR a month, unlimited history, CSV export and GPS prompts on Business at 37 EUR. Pricing FAQ read September 22, 2026.

Best for campaign attribution

From the vendor's pages · plan comparison; no dashboard tested

Scan and click data with device, time and date, UTM traffic charts, CSV and PDF reports, webhook and S3 integrations and CRM contact collection, per the plan comparison read September 22, 2026. Analytics are capped by scans, not months: 500 on Free, 6,000 on Pro Plus at $25 a month billed yearly, geolocation on the first 10,000 on Growth at $250 a month.

Best for Google Analytics and webhooks

From the vendor's pages · pricing grid; dashboard behind signup, not tested

Every tier states its analytics: total scans for 30 days on Basic at $5 a month billed yearly; no time limit, Google Analytics and webhooks on Lite at $9 billed yearly or $15 monthly; location, device, browser and OS breakdowns, exports and Zapier from Standard at $35; exact GPS from Pro at $75. Read September 22, 2026, after the redesign; grid unchanged.

Biggest scan allowance on an entry plan

From the vendor's pages · pricing page tracking line; prices read August 10; no account

Starter tracks 2 dynamic codes for up to 10,000 scans, at 8 EUR a month billed yearly or 16 EUR monthly; prices read August 10, 2026, tracking line re-read September 22. What the dashboard shows beyond where, when and how often is not stated on the pricing page, and we have not run an account.

Scan analytics come from the redirect: a dynamic QR code encodes a short link on the vendor’s domain, the vendor logs each visit before forwarding it to your page, and the dashboard is a view of that log. What you pay for is which fields the log keeps, how long you can see them, and what leaves the dashboard. The full ranking scores the same tools on our common grid; the dynamic guide covers what happens when you stop paying, and the free generators guide covers static codes, which carry no analytics at all.

Why each pick fits

Oh My Code: analytics on the cheapest plan, billed monthly

Tested by us · two controlled browser visits counted; exports and history not tested

Oh My Code’s The Boss, one step above the entry plan The Friendly, lifts codes, scans and users to unlimited at $14.99 a month; both plans also exist as one-time purchases, at $59 and $169. Our two visits were a small series, not a campaign: exports, history length and cross-device deduplication were not validated, and we have not configured a pixel. Skip it if a public code will pass 500 scans a month and you want to stay on the entry plan. Oh My Code review · Account test

Uniqode: the deepest analytics and the longest history

From the vendor's pages · help center; no dashboard tested

Uniqode has no monthly billing and no free dynamic tier: Essential’s $9 a month is paid as $108 upfront, the ladder runs to Core at $49, Plus at $99 and Business+ at $399, and trial codes deactivate at day 14. Email reports come with every plan. Uniqode review

Hovercode: free total and unique scans

From the vendor's pages · pricing FAQ; no dashboard tested

Hovercode hosts its data in Frankfurt, which matters if the scan log is personal data under your rules. Pro is 9.17 EUR a month billed yearly; Business adds API access, and its unlimited history lasts while the subscription is active. Skip it if you need device or location data without paying. Hovercode review

Flowcode: campaign attribution, metered by scans

From the vendor's pages · plan comparison; no dashboard tested

Flowcode is built for attribution rather than for QR codes: its plan comparison also lists landing page clicks and scheduled email reports, with custom tracking pixels on the Enterprise line, priced on quote. Pro Plus is $60 billed monthly for 50 codes; Growth is annual only. The comparison marks which paid plan unlocks each export with a check mark, not in text, so confirm it before you buy. Flowcode review

Scanova: Google Analytics and webhooks on a $9 plan

From the vendor's pages · pricing grid; dashboard behind signup, not tested

Scanova’s Lite is the cheapest documented route from a QR dashboard into your own tools. Standard, $50 billed monthly, also adds event and click tracking and PDF, image and Excel exports. The dashboard sits behind signup, so none of this is measured. Skip it if you were going to buy Basic for its analytics. Scanova review

QR Code Generator by Bitly: 10,000 scans on an entry plan

From the vendor's pages · pricing page tracking line; prices read August 10; no account

QR Code Generator by Bitly’s 10,000 scans are the largest allowance on any entry plan we track, with a 14-day trial. The vendor says trial codes deactivate when the trial ends, so a code printed during the trial loses its numbers. QR Code Generator by Bitly review · Oh My Code vs QR Code Generator by Bitly

One row per dynamic platform, in alphabetical order. The score is the analytics criterion of our grid, out of 10, with its evidence type. Entry plan = the cheapest paid QR tier per tool. "Not documented" means the vendor pages we read do not state it; "?" means no check was made. Dimensions are the ones the vendor documents, except where the row note cites our account test: that row also reflects what we saw, and Oh My Code's dimensions are only the ones we observed. A score marked Hands-on means we also watched a small series of scans in that dashboard (see the review); no scan campaign has been run. Entry prices sit in the pricing index. Static-only generators with no scan tracking are outside this table: Adobe Express, QR Code Monkey, QRzie, covered in the free generators guide.

How long can you see your scans?

It depends on the plan, and history is what most vendors charge for. Uniqode keeps 60 days on Essential, 90 on Core, 180 on Plus and everything on Business+; its second brand, The QR Code Generator, keeps 14 days on Free, 60 on Flex at 4.50 EUR a month billed yearly, 90 on Core and 180 on Plus. Scanova keeps 30 days of totals on Basic and everything from Lite; Hovercode, 3 months on Free, 12 on Pro and all of it on Business; ME-QR, a year on its free plan, with an ad on every scan, and three on paid plans. Flowcode meters scans rather than months. Oh My Code, QR Code Generator by Bitly, QRFY, QR.io and QR Tiger state no limit on the pages we read, which is not the same as promising one.

Before printing, decide how long after the campaign you will still want the numbers, and buy that many days: a code on a shop window collects scans for years.

What counts as a scan, and as a unique scan?

In every dashboard we read, a scan is a visit to the redirect link, so opening the link from a browser counts the same as a phone camera; that is how our Oh My Code series was produced. Unique scans are counted by each vendor’s own method: Hovercode’s FAQ says one person scanning several times counts once, and none of the vendor pages we read document how the same person is recognized across days or devices, so treat the unique count as an estimate, not a headcount. By default, location is estimated from the network address, which Hovercode calls an estimate that is not always accurate; GPS-level positions depend on the scanning device agreeing to share its position, and a dashboard cannot know that a scanner refused.

Can you get scan analytics for free?

Yes, with limits. Each free plan reports something different and carries its own catch:

Can you track a static code?

Not through the generator, because the generator is not in the path: QR Code Monkey, QRzie and Adobe Express score zero on analytics for that reason. Two routes still give you numbers: UTM parameters on the destination URL, read as sessions in your own analytics, which costs nothing and survives every vendor; or a short path on a domain you own, whose redirect you log yourself, which also keeps the code alive if you change tools. Neither gives a per-scan device or location breakdown unless your own analytics do; the free generators guide covers both.

Retargeting pixels, consent and integrations

Three vendors document retargeting pixels in the pages we read. Oh My Code ships Meta, GA4 and Google Ads pixels with The Boss, per its article of July 2, 2026: you paste the pixel or tag ID into a dynamic code’s settings and it fires on scan, before the redirect. QRFY lists Google and Facebook pixel integrations on every plan, behind a 7-day trial that locks codes until you pay for a 3-, 6- or 12-month plan upfront. Flowcode puts custom tracking pixels on its Enterprise line only. Uniqode’s pricing page mentions retargeting without documenting a pixel.

Only Oh My Code’s article describes consent: every scan of a code with a pixel goes through a consent page, no tag fires before consent, and a person who declines still reaches the destination. QRFY’s and Flowcode’s pages do not say. A person who scans a poster has not seen a cookie banner, and the redirect happens before your page loads, so ask for the mechanism before enabling pixels on codes displayed in the EU or the UK, and test it yourself: we have not.

To get data out without pixels, Scanova documents Google Analytics and webhooks from Lite and Zapier from Standard; Flowcode lists webhooks and S3 delivery; Hovercode adds webhooks on Business Plus; QR Planet documents webhooks and an MCP server; QRStuff lists Slack, monday.com and Gmail. Uniqode’s help center describes email reports and CSV rather than integrations, which is worth knowing at $108 upfront.

The ones to think twice about

Analytics, in one rule

Buy the number of days, not the list of fields. Between a $5 plan and a $99 one, what changes is how long you can look back, what you can export, and whether the data can leave through Google Analytics, a webhook or a CSV. If the destination will never change and a session count is enough, a free static code with UTM parameters gives you that for nothing. The dynamic guide explains what the redirect costs you when you stop paying, and the pricing index lists every entry price with its date.

Frequently asked questions

Can you track how many people scan a QR code?

Yes, with a dynamic QR code. The pattern encodes a short link on the vendor's domain, and every scan passes through that redirect before reaching your page, which is where the count happens. A static code encodes your destination directly, so nothing is counted unless your own website does the counting. In the tools we track, the dynamic side is paid after a trial at Oh My Code, Uniqode, Scanova, QR Code Generator by Bitly, QRfy and QR.io, and permanently free with limits at Hovercode, Flowcode, ME-QR, The QR Code Generator and QR Planet.

Is there a free QR code tracker?

Hovercode is the cleanest free option we read: 3 dynamic codes for life with total and unique scans, 3 months of history and no ads, per its pricing FAQ read September 22, 2026. Flowcode gives 2 codes with analytics for the first 500 scans. ME-QR lists 10,000 free codes with a 1-year history, paid for by an ad shown on every scan. The QR Code Generator gives 2 codes with 14 days of history and a 3-second ad. QR Planet's free code is capped at 50 scans a day; its reporting remains unverified. QR Tiger's 3 free codes are capped at 500 scans each: our September 29 account test verified totals, uniques, device categories and CSV on five accesses. Canva's Insights are locked to Business plans.

Can you see who scanned a QR code?

No. Vendor dashboards report the scan, not the person: a timestamp, a device or browser type, and a location estimated from the network address at city or country level, which Hovercode's own FAQ calls an estimate. GPS-level location exists at Uniqode on Plus and above, at Scanova on Pro, at Hovercode on Business and as an add-on at The QR Code Generator, and it depends on the scanning device agreeing to share its position. Of the three vendors documenting retargeting pixels, only Oh My Code's page describes a consent step, a page shown on every scan before any tag fires; QRfy's and Flowcode's pages do not say, so ask before deploying pixels on a printed code.

How long do QR code platforms keep scan data?

It depends on the plan, and it is the quietest paywall in this category. Uniqode keeps 60 days on Essential, 90 on Core, 180 on Plus and lifetime on Business+. The QR Code Generator keeps 14 days on Free and 60 on Flex. Scanova's Basic plan shows 30 days of total scans, and Lite removes the time limit. Hovercode keeps 3 months on Free, 12 on Pro and everything on Business. ME-QR keeps 1 year on Free and 3 on paid plans. Flowcode caps by scans instead: 500, 6,000, then 10,000 with geolocation. Oh My Code, QR Code Generator by Bitly, QRfy, QR.io and QR Tiger do not state a history limit on the pages we read.

How do I track a QR code in Google Analytics?

Add UTM parameters to the destination URL, for example a source of qr and a campaign name, and the scans appear as sessions in your own analytics. This works with a free static code and needs no vendor dashboard; it is the route we recommend when the destination will never change. Among the generators, Scanova documents a Google Analytics integration from its Lite plan, and Flowcode charts UTM traffic in its dashboard. A dynamic code adds the vendor's redirect in front of your page, so the two counts will not match exactly.

Do QR code analytics count unique scans?

Some do, and the definition is rarely written down. Hovercode's FAQ says one person scanning several times counts as one unique scan. Uniqode and Canva report unique scans alongside totals, and The QR Code Generator reports unique users. In our Oh My Code account session on September 21, 2026, two visits from one browser appeared as 2 scans and 1 unique visitor. How a vendor recognises the same person across days or devices is not documented anywhere we read, so treat unique counts as an estimate.
