The verdict
Oh My Code is our pick for most people needing editable QR codes and advanced analytics, with monthly and one-time plans. Choose Uniqode for enterprise analytics, Hovercode for 3 free dynamic codes without a scan cap, or Scanova for its clear pricing grid.
Every dynamic code depends on the provider keeping its redirect active. Check the plan’s scan limits and cancellation policy before printing; a one-time payment removes renewals, not that dependency.
A page update can change the text or presentation without rechecking every fact. General checks, prices and selected topics have separate dates. How to read these dates.

Best dynamic QR for most people
Design-focused QR platform with honest free static codes and lifetime pricing
Best for: Small businesses that want good-looking dynamic QR codes without subscription creep
Dynamic codes with advanced analytics from $4.99 a month or $25 a year, and one-time plans at $59 and $169 that take the renewal out of the equation. Free static export verified hands-on August 7, 2026; pricing re-read August 10.
Best for enterprise teams
Formerly Beaconstac. Enterprise dynamic QR platform with the deepest analytics
Best for: Teams that need dynamic QR at scale with serious analytics and integrations
The highest analytics mark in our index, 15 dynamic codes from $9 a month billed yearly, and the longest compliance list we tracked. No monthly billing, no free tier, a 14-day trial. Verified August 10, 2026.
Best free dynamic
Small, honest dynamic-QR tool — free codes that truly never expire, EU-hosted
Best for: Brands that want clean dynamic QR without enterprise pricing or dark patterns
3 dynamic codes free for life with no scan cap, no watermark and no ads shown to the person scanning, then 100 codes for 11 EUR a month. Hosted in Frankfurt. Verified August 10, 2026.
Clearest grid, unlimited scans
The cleanest published pricing grid in the category, with deep dynamic features
Best for: Budget-conscious users who want dynamic QR with clear, honest tier limits
$5 a month billed yearly buys 3 dynamic codes with unlimited scans, every tier is published with its limits, and the trial FAQ says plainly that trial codes stop at day 14. A $150 one-time plan covers a single code. Verified August 10, 2026.
Best for EU buyers
The Austrian one that writes its rules down
Best for: EU buyers who want honest free limits and a published legal identity
One free dynamic code that never expires, capped at 50 scans a day, then 5 codes with unlimited scans for 5 EUR a month billed yearly. Expiry rules written in plain sentences, full Austrian imprint, German hosting. Verified August 28, 2026.
Best for campaign attribution
Enterprise attribution platform where QR codes are the entry point, not the product
Best for: Brand and campaign teams that need attribution, CRM flow, and landing pages
2 free dynamic codes with a lifetime scan promise that applies to every tier, 50 codes for $25 a month billed yearly, CRM and webhook integrations. Enterprise pricing is demo-gated. Verified August 10, 2026.
Every dynamic QR code depends on a redirect service. The pattern printed on the menu or the packaging does not contain your web address. It contains a short link on the vendor’s domain, and a server owned by the vendor decides where that link goes. That is what makes the code editable after printing and what makes scans countable. It is also why the first question to ask about a dynamic QR code generator is what happens to the printed code when you stop paying.
This page selects dynamic QR platforms for different needs: everyday use, enterprise teams, free codes, EU hosting and campaign attribution. The full ranking scores dynamic platforms on our common grid and lists static-only generators separately. The picks below explain each fit; the table further down compares paid entry plans alphabetically, using the same verified data. Static-only generators are covered in our free generators guide.
Three filters. What the entry plan actually includes, because the headline price buys 2 codes at one vendor and 100 at another, capped scans at one and unlimited at the next. What the vendor’s own pages say happens to a code when the trial or the subscription ends, including trial expiry, permanent free allowances and one-time plans. And whether the price is knowable before you sign up: annual-only billing and demo-gated tiers count against a tool here, because a printed code should not depend on a sales call.
Every claim below carries the date we verified it. The per-tool evidence lives in the linked reviews.
Oh My Code is our pick for most people who need editable codes and analytics, with a choice of subscriptions or one-time plans. The Friendly plan is $4.99 a month, or $25 a year, for 2 dynamic codes with 500 scans a month and advanced analytics from the first paid tier. The Boss plan, $14.99 a month, lifts codes, scans and users to unlimited. Both exist as one-time plans, $59 and $169, re-read on the rendered pricing page August 10, 2026; the only other pay-once option in our index is Scanova’s single-code plan. Two reservations, both weighed in the review: account testing covers selected scenarios rather than every advanced feature; the review details the evidence and provisional status for each criterion. The 14-day trial runs on the same countdown we flag at every other vendor. The free static side is where we did test hands-on: no account, no watermark, a 3020px export that decoded to our URL. Against the market’s biggest name, see Oh My Code vs QR Code Generator by Bitly.
Uniqode is the enterprise pick. It holds the highest analytics mark we have given, its compliance list (SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, ISO, SSO, two-factor) is the longest in the index, and the Essential plan is $9 a month billed yearly for 15 dynamic codes. The entry commitment is $108 paid upfront, with annual billing and no permanent free tier. Its trial codes deactivate after 14 days unless you subscribe, according to the pricing FAQ on its sister site, The QR Code Generator, recorded September 4, 2026 and rechecked September 11. We have documented that policy, but have not tested a Uniqode code through expiry in an account.
Hovercode is the free dynamic pick and the cleanest set of promises we read. Three dynamic codes free for life, no scan cap, no watermark, and no ads, pop-ups or branding shown to the person scanning, each stated on its own pages and re-read August 10, 2026. Data sits in Frankfurt with a DPA available. Paid starts at 11 EUR a month for 100 codes, and the clause to read is in the FAQ: codes created beyond the first three on a subscription expire if that subscription is cancelled. The first three do not.
Scanova wins on legibility and on scans. The Basic plan is $5 a month billed yearly, $60 upfront, for 3 dynamic codes with unlimited scans, and every tier above it is published with its quotas. Its trial FAQ says in one sentence that dynamic codes stop working when the 14-day trial ends, which is the honest version of a mechanic other vendors bury. Basic is annual only; monthly billing starts at $15 on Lite. The $150 Ultra Lite plan buys one dynamic code with lifetime validity.
QR Planet is the pick for anyone buying from the EU, or anyone who wants the rules in writing. The free account’s single dynamic code will never expire, capped at 50 scans a day, per a help article read August 28, 2026. Starter is 5 EUR a month billed yearly, or 6.25 EUR a month on quarterly billing, for 5 codes with unlimited scans. The imprint names the company, the registration number and the CEO, the servers are in Germany, and the no-ads commitment is written down. Reservations: no monthly billing, and the analytics depth is the vendor’s claim rather than our measurement.
Flowcode is for campaign teams that treat the code as the top of a funnel. The free tier gives 2 dynamic codes with a lifetime scan promise that the pricing table extends to every tier, read August 11, 2026, and Pro Plus is $25 a month billed yearly, or $60 monthly, for 50 codes with CRM, webhook and S3 integrations. The enterprise line is usage based and demo gated, with no published price, which is the main reservation in our review.
The table is generated from the same verified data as the pricing index, in alphabetical order. Read the codes and scans columns together with the price: the cheapest entry plans are also the smallest. Design-suite subscriptions that add no QR capability are excluded from this paid-plan table and listed separately in the pricing index.

Entry plan = the cheapest paid QR tier per tool, both billing periods shown; "Capped" means the plan publishes a scan limit, whose figure and unit (per month, per code) sit in each review. Free-offer ads, expiry and scan limits are detailed in the free offers table. †Entry-plan caveat (billing term or suite product), spelled out on that tool's row in the pricing index. Suite plans outside the paid QR sample: Adobe Express, Canva. Their QR features remain covered in the reviews and pricing index. Static-only generators also live in the free generators guide.

Correction, September 11, 2026: the Uniqode pick previously described its trial-expiry policy as unknown even though the policy was documented later on this page. The pick now reflects that source. ME-QR’s inactivity condition also applies to registered users.
Vendor roundups rarely quote this part of their own help pages, so the wording below comes from the vendors’ FAQs and documentation, with the date we read each one.
QR Tiger: “Dynamic QRs have unlimited scans with a valid subscription. If your plan expires, it will stop working,” re-read August 10, 2026, with data retained up to a year after expiry. Scanova: “Your Dynamic QR Code will stop working once the free trial ends,” same day. QR Code Generator by Bitly: trial codes “deactivate automatically when the trial period finishes,” per its blog. QRfy stores codes for three months after the trial but keeps them inaccessible until you subscribe, and a renewal “cannot be cancelled once it has been carried out.” QR.io pauses trial codes at day 7 and reactivates them on upgrade. QRStuff keeps paid codes alive “provided the subscription continues to be paid for,” and its documentation gives three different rules for what follows a cancellation; its free code, created in our expiry watch on August 18, was dead by day 10.
On the other side of the line, Hovercode’s first three free codes never expire, Flowcode commits to lifetime scans on every tier including Free, QR Planet’s free dynamic code never expires and paid customers can ask for retention after a year, and Canva calls its codes valid forever while reserving the right to deactivate one whose destination breaks its guidelines. ME-QR can block codes after 365 days without a scan, including those belonging to registered users. Those users receive a warning and a one-month recovery period before deletion, per its FAQ rechecked September 11, 2026. The QR Code Generator, Uniqode’s second brand, keeps two free codes alive after the trial with a 3-second ad on every scan, and its help center says cancellation deactivates every dynamic code on the account, read September 4, 2026. Uniqode’s own policy turned up the same day on that sister site’s pricing FAQ: once the trial expires, “all dynamic QR Codes you created will become inactive” and “will stop redirecting users” until a subscription is activated.
Oh My Code runs the same 14-day trial as the group, then a paid plan. Its difference is the one-time plan, which has no renewal date. What remains is the dependency every dynamic code carries: the redirect lives on the vendor’s servers, and a one-time plan moves the bet from your subscription to the vendor’s longevity. If that bet is unacceptable for something printed in the thousands, use a static code pointing at a short path on a domain you own and handle the redirect yourself; our free generators guide explains how.
Print during a trial and the code is hostage. That is the pattern behind most of the horror stories, and QRfy, QR.io, QR Code Generator by Bitly and QRStuff all run the mechanic, per their own pages. ME-QR’s free tier is paid for by interstitial ads shown to whoever scans your code. Canva’s free dynamic code wears a Canva logo you cannot remove without a Business or Enterprise plan. QR Tiger’s homepage generator sent us to the pricing page instead of a download, three times, on the free static path. Before printing, choose a plan whose trial, advertising, branding and expiry conditions fit the job. A free offer, subscription and one-time plan carry different obligations.
If the destination never changes, use a static code: free, no account at the tools we recommend, and nothing anyone can switch off. If it might change, or if you need to know how many people scanned, use a dynamic code on a plan you will keep, or a one-time plan. The free generators guide covers static options by need; the small business picks weigh both for a shop that buys once.
A QR code whose pattern encodes a short redirect link on the vendor's domain rather than your destination. Because the destination lives on the vendor's server, you can change it after printing and count the scans. The trade is dependency: the code only resolves while the vendor keeps that redirect alive, which on most paid tools means while you keep paying.
They get deactivated rather than expiring. QR Tiger's FAQ says a dynamic code stops working if the plan expires, Scanova's says trial codes stop at day 14, QRfy locks codes at the end of its 7-day trial, QR.io pauses them at day 7, and QR Code Generator by Bitly deactivates trial codes when the 14-day trial finishes, each read on the vendor's own pages in August 2026. Free codes at Hovercode (3), Flowcode (2) and QR Planet (1) are promised for life. QRStuff's free code died on day 10 in our own test.
Four tools publish a permanent free dynamic tier with a stated cap: Hovercode with 3 codes, Flowcode with 2, QR Planet with 1 at 50 scans a day, and The QR Code Generator with 2 that show a 3-second ad to the person scanning. Canva's free dynamic codes carry a forced Canva logo, and ME-QR lists 10,000 free codes with ads and a 365-day inactivity condition. QR Tiger advertises 3 free dynamic codes at 500 scans each; we have not verified what happens to them. Everything else is a trial: 14 days at Oh My Code, Uniqode, Scanova and QR Code Generator by Bitly, 15 days at QR Planet for paid features, 7 days at QRfy and QR.io, and 7 days without an account at QRStuff.
On the entry paid plan, read on each vendor's pricing page in August 2026: $4.99 a month at Oh My Code for 2 codes, $5 a month billed yearly at Scanova for 3 codes with unlimited scans, 5 EUR a month billed yearly at QR Planet for 5 codes, 8 EUR billed yearly at QR Code Generator by Bitly for 2 codes, $9 billed yearly at Uniqode for 15 codes, 11 EUR at Hovercode for 100 codes, and $39.99 a month on monthly billing at QR.io. These are different billing periods and currencies, not a cheapest-to-most-expensive ranking. Some entry plans have no monthly price even when a higher tier offers monthly billing. Our pricing index lists every entry price with both billing periods and the date we read it.
Two of the tools we track sell a one-time plan, read on their pricing pages on August 10, 2026: Oh My Code at $59 for 2 dynamic codes and $169 for unlimited codes, scans and users, and Scanova at $150 for a single dynamic code with Lite features. A one-time plan removes the renewal, not the dependency: the code still resolves through the vendor's servers, so the bet moves from your subscription to the vendor staying in business.
Static if the destination will never change: it costs nothing, encodes your URL directly and cannot be switched off. Dynamic if the destination might move or you need scan counts, and then only on a plan you intend to keep, or a one-time plan. A third route costs nothing: put a short path on a domain you own in a static code and manage the redirect yourself. Our free generators guide covers the static side.
